Art Trek III: Search for Sketch
Okay that joke was reaching.
Here’s day three of the gift sketchings, Jade for Phee!
Remember when I made special mention of the other alias forms that weren’t Phoenix and Megumi? <:3 It was a trap. I’d decided in advance that I wanted to draw Jade, but I wanted to verify that she even still existed in canon. With that confirmation, zoom, I sketched her third. I have no idea what that thing she’s holding is (but given that I remember Dark and Phoenix holding it in the Phoenix Alliance picture, I assumed he kinda needs that? idk) but I drew her with it. It’s prolly a Game Boy for all I know.
Day four is Thursday! Woo!
I knew you were planning something when you asked that! xD;
This is amazing, though. I’m glad someone decided to give Jade some love after all the years she’s spent not getting drawn. ♥ (ShutupIknowit’smyfault.;~;)
Funny enough, that little device not only is important to her (and Dark), but it essentially is a Game Boy. xD; Or, you know, Lawyer-Friendly Generic Handheld Gaming System of the Future. Technically, it’s not the same thing Phoenix was holding, though… which was his alias device. (Haha, I confuse thee! >:3)
But yes. She came out really cute and mischievous-looking here. Very Jade. I love it. ♥
*clings and gives entirely platonic cuddles forever*
Monica’s updated design for Phee’s magical girl story. With Captain Obvious arrows apparently. I told her that I would draw her new hairstyle and ponytail chain, so here it goes.
I know I said this from just the concept of it too, but I really like the new ponytail chain. Looks like an actual accessory you could probably find rather than just… tying her ponytail with a chain. Which probably doesn’t hold very well, actually. xD;
Oh hey, it’s that game, with that gorgeous art and beautiful designs… o.O
… *casually reblogs*…
… *pretty things level + 5* 8D
I never really had a chance to check out most of CLAMP’s work, but their artwork. ♥_♥
My goal is to someday draw things this pretty and detailed. I’d have to if I plan to do artwork for my own magical girl series. (Which is extremely pretty and detailed in my head…)
Because of Phee’s Tekken-ing of the girls (and Isa being the robot girl), it kinda got concluded that she’d have sort of light mecha-esque armor in canon, along with her adorable dress. Then mecha-ing got jets involved, and since Isidora is half-Russian, we (and by ‘we’ I mean me mostly but giving Phee things to look at) went over some of the possible jet candidates for the armor and obviously Russian jets were more prominent. I’m not too big on the Russian jets personally, but I do like the Sukhoi Su-37 and Su-47.
(Rambling continued below 8D; lotta rambling)
The dress looks so cute on her! And the shoes are perfect! 8D I’m going to have to make Isa show up in her magical girl outfit without the jet parts at least once now. ^_~
All the jet pieces you did add (and the mask!) look great, though. The leg pieces look like mecha leg warmers, lol. And I imagine people scratching their heads in confusion when they see jet cockpits as sort-of pauldrons, but that’s fashion. (And Japanese character design, for that matter. o_o;)
I’m gonna go blonde again, though, and ask a couple of questions since I don’t really know jets. xD
I kinda get the rest, but do the pieces on the arms signify any part in particular? From a purely design standpoint, I’m debating whether they add too much to the design or not. But Isa would have a fit if she wasn’t an accurate jet girl, so I’m curious if they’re important. ^_~
Also… what’s the sort of tail thing she has going on? I like it, but I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be. xD;
Finally, this is more of a future design aspect I need to keep in mind, but I’m going to write it here. I need to figure out the girls’ hairstyles in their magical-girl forms. I don’t think I’ll go crazy like I did on Tekken and change everything, lol. But I definitely want them to have more formal-event type hairstyles. Something you might see at an upscale party or red-carpet event. For Isa specifically, I need to figure out how to do that and give her multi tone hair to fit her “Calico” identity.
But again, Mei, that’s mostly for me. I wasn’t going to bother you with the hairstyle aspect when I couldn’t even figure it out myself. xP Now that I’ve seen an actual design, though, it might be easier. :3
Part 2 of my final Tekken customization posts.
Like Vanessa’s, Monica’s and Kiseki’s swimsuits were pretty basic. Three color/pattern options, and no way to customize any further than that. So these were basically just for fun because the default swimsuits the characters had were so appropriate. :3
Phew. Now I can take a break from grabbing at the camera every time I customize a character in Tekken Tag 2, and apologize to all of my followers who I didn’t base one of these characters on if my sudden non-fashion photoset spam has cluttered your dashboard. xD;
(Obligatory Part 1 link here.)
BONUS ROUND!!! 8D
Okay, so every character in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has swimsuit options. Well… almost every character. *glares at Angel*
As I was customizing my magical girl OCs on various Tekken characters, I realized their swimsuits, for the most part, matched up to the characters I was creating. The only one that didn’t was Alisa as Isidora, who had the same basic bikini design as Jun (who I was using for Monica). But as I was playing the game to earn points for customization parts, I unlocked a Battle Suit for Alisa that worked just as well for how fanservicey this post was going to end up. xD
Unfortunately, I went over the picture limit when I tried to post all four characters together. So I added a couple of extra pictures and split them into two posts. Monica and Kiseki are up next! :3
Character customization round 4!!!
These are the magical-girl version Isidora and Kiseki costumes for Alisa and Miharu in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
I thought these would be more difficult, because I was planning on using Alisa’s maid costume for Isa, and it automatically gives her cat paws on her hands and feet. Then, while I was talking to Mei to get her opinion, I realized I had a military uniform style dress I could use instead. And since I was already exploiting Mei’s fangirling over jets by using the robot girl with rocket boosters, I figured I might as well go all the way and exploit her love of uniforms. ^_~
Isa’s hair is another story - in the actual magical girl concept I created, she has some kind of multi tone hair color, but I can only do one hair color with TTT2’s customization. Since we already had several magical girl characters with light hair, I used the dark, almost-black tone from the canon magical girl Isa’s design. And then gave her a nifty sci-fi band thingy for the ponytail. :3 (I’m also not sure if Mei would like the eye-covering bangs… but I figured Isa’s the shy one, and they don’t have masks like they’re supposed to. It worked in my head, and it looks good on Isa’s.)
Comparatively, Kiseki was easy. Miharu has a gothic lolita outfit that already came in pink and white, so I just adjusted the colors a teensy bit. I had already decided on the braid for her hairstyle, kept her bangs mostly the same (I just used the curled-out version for this one), and made her a platinum blonde. Finding the right shade of blonde was actually the hardest part.
All in all, these two weren’t nearly as difficult as Monica and her uneditable patterns on her dress. ^_^;
Pointless Tekken Tag Tournament 2 stuff round 3! Now we get into the magical girl costumes for my OCs, and see how much the game hates me even trying to make them. xD;
Once again, Vanessa and Monica are customized from Lili Rochefort and Jun Kazama. Lili has this really neat dress available that no other character has, but it doesn’t really work like I wanted in the darker purples I was planning because of all the details that stay white. So I had to compromise and color it in lighter purples, which is still really pretty at least. I also tried a similar curled hairstyle with her hair down, but I preferred this one. Especially with the butterflies. :3
Unfortunately, on Monica, I had to compromise even more. I wanted to keep the chains on her normal design’s ponytail and make them gold, but I would have had to use hairstyles that didn’t really work for this design. I also wanted to get rid of or recolor the patterns on Jun’s Chinese dress, but nope. No option available for that whatsoever. The options for bangs were pretty limited too, so when I went with the chignon hairstyle I decided the straight bangs would give it a sort of traditional look.
Basically, a lot of the game’s limitations got in my way on this one. And the same is going to happen with Isa and Kiseki, I’m sure. But I’m still going to try!
